Full time fixed term for 3 years at Camperdown Campus Lead innovative sleep and brain health research with national and global impact Base Salary Level C $156,103 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The Healthy Brain Ageing (HBA) program in the School of Psychology guided by Professor Sharon Naismith, is seeking a Senior Research Fellow (Level C, Research Only) to lead innovative research examining the neurophysiological mechanisms linking sleep, brain clearance, and cognitive function across adulthood and ageing. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will advance multimodal neuroimaging approaches, build interdisciplinary collaborations, and strengthen the University of Sydney’s national and international profile in sleep neuroscience and brain health research. Your key responsibilities will be to: lead an independent research program investigating sleep neurophysiology, brain clearance, and cognitive ageing develop and refine multimodal neuroimaging approaches to quantify cerebrospinal fluid dynamics and brain waste clearance integrate electrophysiological sleep measures with neuroimaging and computational modelling design and oversee complex multimodal human research studies and sleep monitoring protocols generate high-quality research outputs and secure competitive research funding supervise and mentor HDR students and research staff while building interdisciplinary collaborations contribute to the HBA sleep program methodologies, quality, program development and opportunities to promote the HBA program to academic and community audiences About you PhD in psychology, neuroscience, biomedical science, or a closely related discipline substantial postdoctoral experience in sleep neuroscience and/or cognitive neuroimaging research demonstrated expertise in multimodal neuroimaging and electrophysiological sleep methodologies strong track record of peer‑reviewed publications in leading international journals proven success in securing or contributing to competitive research funding experience supervising HDR students and leading multidisciplinary research teams. established collaborative networks across academic, clinical, and/or industry partners that enhance research translation and impact demonstrated commitment to research integrity, reproducibility, and ethical conduct in human neuroimaging research understanding of strategic priorities in higher education and national research funding landscapes, particularly in brain health and ageing.
