Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Research Finance team as a Senior Research Finance Assistant.
This team is responsible for the financial management of the University of Warwick’s portfolio of research and research related activity and the post reports into the Research Finance Manager, working closely with a fellow Senior Research Finance Assistant.
The successful candidate will proactively manage a portfolio of externally funded research and research related projects from acceptance to closure, supporting and advising departmental colleagues. This post undertakes preparation of claims or invoices for projects in line with funder deadlines, interpretation and identification of funder regulations, monitoring research projects which have ended and ensuring that appropriate actions are taken for a prompt and orderly close. The appointed candidate will support Finance Managers to arrange audits and prepare documentation, alongside the overall promotion of financial control.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN THE IDEAL CANDIDATE?

Holding professional qualification such as the Association of Accounting Technician qualification (AAT), the successful candidate will use their excellent IT and customer service skills to deliver information in a supportive and informative nature to assist departmental colleagues in meeting funder regulatory requirements, to the relevant deadlines. Intermediate excel skills are essential, including the use of VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
Whilst it would be beneficial for candidates to have experience in higher education or research support role, this is not essential and candidates who are able to demonstrate the ability to learn new areas of knowledge and skills rapidly, such as the ability to understand contractual terms and conditions, and then effectively advise and support colleagues would be encouraged to apply. Training will be provided to assist the successful candidate in becoming effective in their duties.
The appointed candidate will be required to work from the University of Warwick campus for a minimum of three set days per week on a Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The hybrid working model could be subject to change.
