Description

The Senior Research Scientist in the Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology department will lead and coordinate advanced biomedical research projects while overseeing core facility operations, equipment management, and cross-departmental initiatives. The role requires a blend of scientific expertise, project management skills, and strong communication to ensure seamless workflows in histology, organ procurement, safety, and laboratory logistics.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee histology core operations, training, scheduling, and QA/QC;
  • Manage organ research logistics, compliance, and inter-lab liaison;
  • Supervise maintenance and usage of shared freezers, autoclave, etc;
  • Coordinate tagging, disposal, surveys, and tracking of equipment;
  • Serve as safety resource, support inspections and hazard reporting;
  • Plan and execute lab move-in/out, furniture, and equipment setup;
  • Handle building issues, work orders, emergency preparedness, etc.

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a natural, physical or medical science with 5 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications: The preferred qualifications include at least 3-5 years of medical research management experience, a strong knowledge of human anatomy or physiology, familiarity with IACUC and IRB protocols, and a PhD degree.
