Dr. Jonee Wilson in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia is seeking a Senior Research Specialist to collaborate on an NSF-funded project that focuses on building and testing a theoretical coaching framework while advancing conceptual mathematics learning for students with learning differences. Specifically, the project aims to center the voices, knowledge, and experiences of students with learning differences in supporting teachers to provide these students with access to conceptually oriented mathematics instruction.
In collaboration with senior research faculty, Research Specialist Senior employees participate as skilled individual contributors and/or lead researchers on one or more research projects. They serve as experts in their research field. They may be responsible for administrative, financial and staff supervision, as well as planning aspects of the project, where funding allows. They present results of studies at professional meetings and other forums and oversee other researchers and staff.
We seek someone who has experience with qualitative research. We also seek someone with teaching and research experience in mathematics education and special education. In addition, we seek someone with strong relationships in Virginia public school systems.
