REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (AS EVIDENCED BY AN ATTACHED RESUME):

Bachelor’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in biology or a related field. Two (2) years of full time advanced research experience in a biomedical laboratory. Experience working in a laboratory organization. Experience with biochemical assays, protein purification, protein crystallography and/or cell biology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in biochemistry, chemistry, cell biology or life science related field. Data analysis experience. Experience conducting research experiments.

Responsibilities

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Working under general supervision in support of a research project or program for Dr. Markus Seeliger in the Department of Pharmacological Sciences, incumbent will operate equipment, carry out test procedures as well as collate and interpret data using special methods, in particular protein expression and purification, tissue culture, molecular biology and biochemical assays. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.

DUTIES:

  • Develop, monitor, coordinate and manage activities to maintain effective operationof the program.
  • Work collaboratively with other employees, faculty and professionals to advance

the goals of the project.

  • Conduct experiments; provide research support by conducting tests using

specialized methods for data collection; interpret the collected data.

  • Observe, collect and analyze data and write summary reports as necessary.
  • Prepare reports, drafts and/or manuscripts based on the collected data.
  • May develop and maintain databases.
  • May coordinate field and laboratory work and/or develop and maintain databases.
  • Incumbents may be responsible for orienting/training others to the project/program

and checking work of less experienced employees as assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned.
