ABOUT US

Established in 2012 and based in the Department of Neurodegenerative Disease, the UCL IQPath Experimental Histology facility is a state-of-the-art research facility, closely affiliated with the clinical Division of Neuropathology at the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery; both of which are under the supervision of Professor Sebastian Brandner. Our main expertise is mouse and human histology of the central nervous system, and we offer the entire histology pathway including tissue dissection, embedding, and preparation of histological slides, immunohistochemistry, and whole slide scanning with image analysis.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are recruiting for a Senior Research Technician to lead the IQPath facility team and carry out histological and immunohistochemical techniques on research and diagnostic specimens. You will oversee the management of the facility and its staff (currently two-three technician staff and variable student numbers) and perform histological work. You’ll manage and distribute the workload, deliver staff training, and be responsible for customer relations and billing, liaising with the PI and Head Biomedical Scientist in the Division of Neuropathology as necessary.
An honorary contract will be sought from UCLH NHS Foundation Trust, for which a DBS check will be required.
The role is available from 04 June 2025 and funded until 31 March 2027 in the first instance.
