The Electron Microscopy Core is a full-service laboratory providing advanced technical support to physicians, scientists, and researchers both within and outside the Mayo enterprise. We are seeking a skilled and motivated technologist with a background in laboratory sciences and electron microscopy to join our team. The EM Senior Research Technologist will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical services to support research laboratories and investigators. This includes preparing and imaging specimens using electron microscopy techniques, in close collaboration with researchers and other laboratory personnel. Key responsibilities include performing a range of laboratory tasks, including but not limited to: 1. Tissue processing, embedding, and ultrathin sectioning 2. Handling chemicals and biohazardous materials in a safe and compliant manner 3. Operating and maintaining specialized laboratory equipment, including performing routine calibrations, troubleshooting, and minor repairs 4. Verifying data accuracy and maintaining comprehensive and compliant documentation The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working in a laboratory environment with electron microscopes. They should be highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. Successful candidates will demonstrate: • A strong work ethic • Intellectual curiosity and attention to detail • Excellent recordkeeping and communication skills • Solid critical thinking and problem-solving abilities The candidate will be expected to acquire technical competency in specific laboratory protocols and consistently follow established procedures in compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.
