To be successful you will demonstrate:

  • an interest and curiosity about education, learning, curriculum and assessment issues
  • extensive research experience beyond a postgraduate qualification (or equivalent) in education or social science
  • knowledge of educational research methods (qualitative and quantitative)
  • deep specific knowledge/understanding of a particular area of research methods (qualitative or quantitative)
  • knowledge of recent literature about education, curriculum and assessment in the UK and overseas
  • ability to work in a team
  • leadership including the creativity and independence to lead and deliver research projects to time
  • ability to write and speak in ways that suit different purposes and that engage different audiences, such as teachers, colleagues and academic researchers
  • expertise in designing and managing research in education, learning or assessment

  • Author reports, research papers, and presentations of publishable quality. Critique, mentor and guide the work of others.
  • Engage with and support policy development and guidance in the Research Division. Deputise for senior colleagues.
  • Manage and develop the performance of direct and indirect line management reports in line with Cambridge University Press & Assessment company values and leadership competencies. Ensure direct reports complete required tasks to achieve divisional objectives.
  • Lead in the provision of advice, technical expertise and supporting good research practice within and beyond the Research Division
Responsibilities

These are exciting opportunities to work in a busy research team within the Education and Curriculum strand of our Research Division. This team undertakes research to improve, develop and innovate the education and curriculum products and services of Cambridge University Press & Assessment and beyond. They also aim to conduct research which improves education and curriculum for learners, education professionals, and wider society. Additionally, the Senior Researchers in these roles might conduct research beyond the Education and Curriculum strand, relating to other education, qualification, and assessment themes.
Some projects will require you to work independently while others will be collaborative pursuits where you will work closely with other researchers and business colleagues.
In theses roles your research will have wide-ranging impact, both for our business activities as well as on the education and assessment community more widely. You will provide critical evidence to support our business teams and will also help influence thinking and policy on education more widely within and beyond Cambridge University Press & Assessment.
