Nepean Hospital is an accredited secondment hospital for Paediatrics Training. The primary purpose of the role is to provide effective clinical management of paediatric medical patients, under appropriate supervision, whilst developing expertise in paediatric practice, in a complex clinical environment. The medical officer is the key person who works closely with all members of a multi-disciplinary team and deals with matters of an urgent or sensitive nature, whilst exercising discretion, sensitivity and maintaining confidentiality.
Nepean Hospital is an accredited Workplace based assessment (WBA) program provider. The Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) pathway is designed for international medical graduates who have passed the AMC Computer Adaptive Test Multiple Choice Question (CAT MCQ) examination, hold registration as a medical practitioner and are appointed to a hospital or general practice position.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years in a setting appropriate to the needs of the position.
  • Expected completion of at least two postgraduate years at the time of commencement of employment.
  • Demonstrated experience and training in procedural and resuscitation skills including venepuncture, cannulation, bladder catheterisation and lumbar puncture.
  • This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency. If the incumbent s registration conditions include supervision requirements, the level of supervision must be able to be supported by the health agency for this role.
  • Valid Working with Children Check, cleared National Police Check.
  • To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.
