Our strategic priority under this vision is our commitment to excellence in Patient and Family Centre Care. Staff are supported to ensure patients, their families and carers are considered as partners in care to achieve optimal patient outcomes and best possible healthcare experience.
This Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) position will complete duties similar to accredited trainees in the Radiation Oncology Department of Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, minus college training requirements and with the suitable increased level of support and supervision from specialists. The SRMO will rotate through four 3-month rotations, working under two specialists at a time, with a regular weekly schedule of outpatient clinics (seeing new patients, follow-ups, and on-treatment reviews). There is a light inpatient load, during which the SRMO will supervise a full-time ward-based RMO and devise management plans with the assistance of the AMO. The SRMO will have allocated time to be involved in the radiation simulation, contouring, and treatment planning processes and participate in regular in-house teaching for trainees. The SRMO will also participate in an on-call roster with other JMOs/trainees at the site, providing further valuable Radiation Oncology-specific clinical exposure. The position is classified as a part time role.
The SRMO position is employed by Sydney LHD, but is primarily based in Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, one of two comprehensive cancer centres in Australia, providing care for patients within the RPA, SLHD catchments and beyond. It is an independent, not-for-profit cancer hospital. The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse model of care is multi-disciplinary, patient-centred and research-based, delivered through integrated co-located services in our Camperdown campus. The Radiation Oncology department treats Sydney LHD public patients and also private patients and is one of the busiest in NSW, delivering over 1700 courses of radiation treatment each year, covering an extensive range of tumour-streams.
Sydney Local Health District’s vision incorporates NSW Health Core Values and a commitment to equity, health improvement, timeliness and efficiency, recognising that evidence-based service delivery requires highly skilled and valued staff supported by research, education and state-of-the-art technologies.
Our strategic priority under this vision is our commitment to excellence in Patient and Family Centre Care. Staff are supported to ensure patients, their families and carers are considered as partners in care to achieve optimal patient outcomes and best possible healthcare experience.
