Description

Job description:

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You’re more than just a manager - you’re someone who cares deeply and knows how to bring out the best in others. We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has strong leadership skills and a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Understands trauma and can offer calm, thoughtful guidance even in difficult situations.
  • Is an excellent communicator, able to connect with children, colleagues and external professionals.
  • Can manage day-to-day tasks while keeping an eye on the bigger picture of each child’s progress.
  • Brings experience from the care sector, ideally with qualifications in childcare or social work.
  • Stays grounded and composed, helping children feel safe and supported when they need it most.
  • A good understanding of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
Responsibilities

This isn’t just about leading - it’s about being there for children who need someone to believe in them. You’ll be:

  • Guiding and supporting a team of dedicated care workers, ensuring that every child receives the compassionate, trauma-informed care they need.
  • Developing personalised care plans and risk assessments that help children overcome their challenges.
  • Building deep, trusting relationships with children, giving them the emotional security to grow and flourish.
  • Working hand-in-hand with social workers, therapists and educators to ensure each child’s care is holistic and tailored to their needs.
  • Creating a home-like environment where children feel safe, cared for and able to express themselves.
  • Leading by example, whether that means handling day-to-day tasks or stepping up in moments of crisis.
