Description

Senior Residential Support Worker: Empowering Children & Young People in Crediton
Are you an experienced, highly motivated, and committed Senior Residential Support Worker looking for a rewarding opportunity to take the next step in your career in Crediton? Join our modern semi-independent residential home and make a profound difference in the lives of children and young people aged 8-16 who are navigating Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.
This is a permanent, full-time Senior Residential Support Worker position offering a competitive salary of £33,176- £40,456 (inclusive of sleeps) for a 40-hour week. You’ll be an integral part of a supportive team, providing enhanced support and mentorship, working a shift pattern of 9 am - 10 pm, followed by a sleep-in, and then 7 am - 9 am.
About the Role: Leading by Example Every Day
No two days are the same in this dynamic environment. As a Senior Residential Support Worker in Crediton, you’ll be instrumental in creating a safe, homely, and friendly culture where children and young people feel secure and cared for. You’ll take on increased responsibility in implementing care plans, managing complex situations, and acting as a mentor to less experienced staff. Your work will directly enable residents to develop socially, emotionally, and behaviourally, fostering their independence and well-being.

Key Responsibilities of a Senior Residential Support Worker:

  • Encourage Independence & Development: Empower children and young people to take responsibility for their lives, engage in activities, and develop essential life skills, providing targeted support.
  • Maintain a Supportive Environment: Uphold the homely and friendly culture of our residential home, acting as a positive role model and ensuring a nurturing atmosphere.
  • Manage Challenging Behaviours: Confidently and sympathetically support children and young people through taxing behaviours, utilising your experience to de-escalate situations and implement effective strategies.
  • Safeguarding & Welfare: Act as a key safeguarding link, protecting children and young people’s health and welfare. Maintain an up-to-date, in-depth knowledge of individual care plans and guidelines, and contribute to risk assessments.
  • Promote Well-being: Provide essential, enhanced support to enhance the independence and overall well-being of residents, addressing their emotional and practical needs.
  • Build Relationships & Collaborate: Foster strong working relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals like psychologists, often taking a lead in communications.
  • Mentorship & Guidance: Provide guidance and support to less experienced Support Workers, helping them develop their skills and understanding of best practices.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Accurately complete logs, reports, and other necessary documentation, contributing to care planning and reviews.

What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking passionate, resilient, and experienced individuals who are ready to take on more responsibility and actively contribute to the development of our team and residents.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 Year Experience: Demonstrable experience as a Children’s Residential Support Worker or in a similar role working directly with young people with EBD.
  • Full UK Driving Licence: You must be a car driver as transporting children and young people is a key part of the role.
  • Age Requirement: Applicants must be over the age of 21.
  • Ability to reliably commute to our home in Crediton.
  • QCF Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare

Benefits of Joining Our Team:

We value our Senior Residential Support Workers and offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your professional growth and well-being:

  • Fully Funded QCF Level 4 Children & Young People Qualification: Advance your career with a highly recognised qualification, preparing you for future leadership roles.
  • Company Pension Scheme: Plan for your future with our robust pension contributions.
  • 28 Days Annual Leave: Enjoy ample time off to recharge.
  • Comprehensive Training Package: Benefit from ongoing face-to-face training, dedicated CPD planning, and opportunities for advanced workshops.
  • Career Development Opportunities: Plenty of avenues to maximise your earnings and advance your career into more specialized or leadership positions.
  • Enhanced Disclosure Cost Coverage: We cover the cost of your DBS check.
