Description

The Senior Retrocession Manager works in a dynamic international team, currently located in the US, France and Germany and in close cooperation with our worldwide local market teams.
By developing innovative retrocession structures, the L&H Retrocession Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping strategies that actively support business growth across various markets, enabling them to offer additional capacity to clients and enhancing SCOR’s competitive positioning.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential for fostering and expanding relationships with brokers and retrocessionaires.

  • Management of internal as well as external relationships. This includes negotiations with brokers and retrocessionaires to help expanding existing relationships with retrocession brokers and retrocessionaires as well as to support the development of new relationships.
  • Lead negotiations with brokers and retrocessionaires to expand existing partnerships and to support the development of new relationships, ensuring alignment with SCOR’s strategic objectives.
  • Support SCOR’s general retro strategy by developing (innovative) retrocession structures to support SCOR’s local market teams to further grow SCOR’s business.
  • Develop (innovative) retrocession structures to support SCOR’s local market teams and SCOR’s general retro strategy to further grow SCOR’s business
  • Attaining a deep understanding of the underlying L&H portfolio, its challenges and opportunities, is key to structure profitable and meaningful retrocession solutions.
  • Develop and analyse new retrocession structures and opportunities. This includes performing Impact analysis with key KPI’s and analysing the impact on SCOR’s overall portfolio, esp. with regard to IFRS 17
  • Responsible for drafting the respective retro wordings in close collaboration with Legal
  • Catastrophe scenarios are essential to estimate claims on SCOR’s portfolio and to adequately manage the respective risks. One duty will be to further develop the L&H retrocession modelling capabilities to estimate and forecast the impacts of an Earthquake on SCOR’s L&H portfolio.
  • Initiate and coordinate retrocession related internal projects (e.g. SII QRT reporting or project hELIOS), incl ensuring correct and adequate reporting on retrocession related matters.
  • The L&H Retro team works in a global environment and needs to understand and deal with changing market developments, such as new products, new reinsurance solutions but also new regulations. These new developments need to be translated into new retrocession solutions, making the duties and responsibilities developing over time.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in (re)insurance with a focus on mathematics, finance or economics
  • Understanding of life (re)insurance and or retrocession structures, markets and practices
  • IFRS 17 knowledge for life insurance and Re-insuranceAdvanced IT skills, particularly in data analysis and reporting tools, alongside proficiency in MS Office

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • University degree/Master degree in Mathematics, Economics, equivalent other scientific discipline with strong mathematical/ insurance focus.
