SENIOR RISK MANAGER:

On behalf of our financial services client, Procom is searching for a Senior Risk Manager for a one-year role. This position is a hybrid position with 1 day onsite at our client’s Calgary office.

SENIOR RISK MANAGER - JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Risk Manager, Client Experience & Technology Office (CXT) is a key player in the 1LOD CXT Risk team, focusing on data, insights, and collaboration to enhance risk assessment. This role is essential in identifying, understanding, and managing risks effectively across the business, with a primary focus on conducting comprehensive risk assessments on large-scale initiatives.

SENIOR RISK MANAGER - MANDATORY SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree/MBA an asset)
  • Professional designations such as FRM, CRM, CRISC, CPA, or CFA preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in risk management, including work with operational, technology, or enterprise risk frameworks
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles, methodologies, and best practices
  • Proven ability to conduct complex risk assessments and present findings to executives
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills across multiple lines of defense
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex risks for varied audiences

SENIOR RISK MANAGER – NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:

  • Professional Risk Manager (PRM) or related certification
  • Experience in developing tools to map controls to E2E processes
  • Analytical mind with the ability to break complex problems into manageable bodies of work
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience mentoring and supporting team members
Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments on large-scale initiatives, including projects, system implementations, process changes, and expansions
  • Mature and continuously improve the New Initiative Risk Assessment (NIRAP) process
  • Identify, quantify, and evaluate risks, providing clear recommendations to project stakeholders and senior leaders
  • Understand solution designs to identify gaps, dependencies, or risks within proposed initiatives
  • Evaluate risk embedded within end-to-end processes and provide insight to strengthen controls and reduce vulnerabilities
  • Develop and present risk mitigation strategies and validate internal controls for effectiveness and adherence to methodology
  • Monitor and report on risks and key risk indicators (KRIs) across the project lifecycle
