Your Role & Team We’re looking for a Senior Ruby Engineer to join the team building Collect - CreditorWatch’s accounts receivable automation and cash‑flow optimisation platform. As part of a small R&D team, you’ll work closely with product managers, a product designer and engineers to deliver features that directly impact customers. You’ll take end‑to‑end ownership of work - from solution design through to production and iteration - building on a modern Ruby on Rails / Sidekiq platform running on AWS ECS (Fargate). You’ll apply Domain‑Driven Design, contribute to and improve our CI/CD practices, and embrace AI‑assisted development tools to increase quality and delivery speed, while also supporting other engineers. This role reports directly to the Engineering Manager and is a full-time opportunity offering hybrid working conditions out of our Sydney CBD Office. Some of your responsibilities include and are not limited to: End‑to‑end ownership: Drive initiatives from concept through to production Cross‑functional collaboration: Work closely with product, design and engineering teams to deliver meaningful outcomes Architecture & system design: Design and evolve system boundaries, events, and integrations for the platform using DDD (Domain Driven Design) Backend engineering: Build and maintain services using Ruby on Rails and Sidekiq, with reliability, security, scalability, performance and observability in mind AI‑assisted development: Embrace modern AI tools to improve productivity Security champion: Advocate for security and privacy best practices from secure handling of sensitive data to safe usage of third-party dependencies. Technical mentorship: Mentor mid‑level and junior engineers through pairing, code reviews and design discussions.
