ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

To support the delivery of the North East Link Central Package we are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Advisor with a background in civil construction, tunnelling or manufacturing projects.
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our established team in Lower Plenty who will support and drive the HSE culture on site while working with the Zone Health and Safety Managers and the wider project team to provide guidance, clarity and support to lead the safety culture.

Responsibilities

THIS ROLE WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

  • Mentoring and coaching personnel to drive a culture of “Safety and Health above all else”
  • Investigating incidents and events, and responding with corrective actions
  • Monitoring S&H performance and ensuring compliance with S&H policy, procedures and legislative requirements
  • Conducting regular inspections and audits and maintaining associated documentation and records
  • Implementing and monitoring safety and health controls and communication to stakeholders and teams for inclusion in work planning activities
  • Assisting in the development construction planning documents
  • Conducting or facilitating safety educational programs
  • Assisting with reporting requirements as required
  • Influencing and fostering a strong One HSEQ Culture through strong leadership and communication skills
  • Maintain regular visibility across the workplace, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of relevant legislation and best practice in a construction environment

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE ARE:

  • Ideally, 5+ years’ experience in Construction and/or heavy industry and high-risk workplaces.
  • Formal qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Safety Lead Auditor Qualification
  • Experience in managing health controls within the construction environment.
  • Ability to build relationships and rapport with people at all levels
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Computer literacy
  • Current Driver’s Licence
