SENIOR SAFETY ADVISOR

Responsibilities

Further responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the development of line management and supervisor health & safety capability including the concept of visible felt leadership and ensuring safety and health systems and processes are understood and implemented effectively by the line.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of relevant safety and health legislation, trends and new initiatives impacting on the business.
  • Monitoring, measuring, tracking and reporting on and closing out of corrective actions from risk assessments, investigations and audits.
  • Providing advice, coaching and development to managers and supervisors to develop their safety and health knowledge and capability.
  • Assisting and supporting line management with safety incident investigations, including the determination and tracking of correct and preventative measures.
  • Assisting and supporting line management in identifying, assessing, controlling and reviewing health and safety hazards

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A relevant qualification and/ or a commensurate level of experience and willingness to gain appropriate qualifications.
  • Previous experience in a safety or related leadership role within a high-risk environment e.g. quarrying, mining, oil & gas or heavy industrial manufacturing is preferred.
  • Relevant experience in coaching, mentoring, providing Safety Advice and interpretation of conducting safety inspections, audit, leading incident investigations and reporting safety related matters.
  • Relevant experience in behavioural safety and / or Critical Risk Management programmes
  • Current knowledge of OH&S legislation and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and promote a zero-harm culture.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and with all functions
