Location: MOD Abbey Wood Rate: Up to £760/day Duration: 01/04/2026 to 30/06/2026 (extension possible) Deadline for Applications: 19/02/2026 at 12:30pm Role Summary The Senior Safety Manager will provide senior safety leadership within a regulated MOD environment, ensuring delivery of safe, compliant and supportable capability. The role requires oversight of safety management activities, development and maintenance of safety cases, and assurance of engineering outputs across the programme lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage safety activities across the programme lifecycle. Develop, maintain and review safety cases and hazard logs. Provide independent safety advice to delivery teams and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with relevant MOD policy, legislation and safety standards. Identify and manage safety risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are in place. Support design reviews and technical assurance activities. Essential Experience Significant experience in safety engineering or safety management within a regulated environment. Experience developing and maintaining safety cases. Strong understanding of hazard identification and risk management processes. Experience working within MOD or defence-related programmes. Relevant engineering or STEM qualification.
