POSITION SUMMARY:

This role demands a high level of technical expertise, customer interaction, and strategic input to drive CIENA’s market presence and solution adoption in the Andean market (Colombia, Ecuador and Peru) by contributing toward both operational and tactical objectives.

SKILLS

  • Deep technical expertise on layer 3 and layer 2 protocols and architectures such as MPLS, Segment Routing (SR-MPLS and SRv6) and services such as IP VPNs, EVPNs, VPLS/VPWS.
  • Experience and good skills in IP-Routing, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS, BFD, L3VPN, LDP, IGMP, Multicast, Segment Routing, EVPN, and network virtualization.
  • A good understanding of telecommunications network architectures
  • Desired knowledge and experience on optical technology like DWDM, OTN and coherent pluggables.
  • Hands on expertise on Carrier Ethernet and IP solutions.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex information.
  • Flexibility and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including coordinating the work activities of other team members.
  • Bilingual capabilities in both Spanish and English, essential for effective communication in diverse environments.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Technical Degree; BSEE, Electronics, Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 8 years telecommunication industry experience
  • Prior experience as a contributor on sales engineering/account team at least for 5 years#LI-SG

Responsibilities
  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert for the Andean market, advising on CIENA solutions for next-generation architectures.
  • Preparing detailed quotations and proposals for a range of technologies mainly on routing (IP Layer) and Carrier Ethernet, with knowledge on optical solutions and multilayer/multi technology.
  • Presenting complex designs and interfacing with sales and product management/marketing teams to develop strategies and product enhancements based on customer needs.
  • The role requires travel primarily on Andean region.
  • Conducting demonstrations, market trials, product certifications, and evaluating solutions.
  • Providing technical consultancy to customers on the CIENA Portfolio and Solutions.
  • Performing cost/benefit analyses for business cases.
  • Serving as a technical IP leader/reference for other sales engineers in the region.
  • Utilizing CIENA’s design and modeling tools proficiently.
