Description:
ReOrbit is looking for a motivated Senior Thermal Engineer to join our team. We are looking for an experienced engineer who is proactive and confident to work both autonomously and collaboratively as part of the team, communicating with internal teams and external partners.
You will be responsible for the high-level thermal systems design for our new project, developing a solution using hardware with flight heritage from our trusted suppliers, as well as supporting other projects across the company. This is an exciting opportunity to work across all the projects in the company, in pushing the boundaries of existing space data technology.
This role can be based either at our headquarters in Helsinki, Finland or in London, UK.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 5 years’ working within the space industry (excluding nanosats or microsats) in a thermal engineering role or similar.
- Knowledge and professional experience of the full lifecycle of thermal subsystems.
- High level system design of thermal subsystems.
- Ability to analyse data, derive conclusions, and manage design documentation as well as review and approve design changes.
- Comfortable working closely with external vendors and consortium partners.
- Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Fluent written and spoken skills in English.
Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Mission requirements analysis
- Preliminary & detailed thermal design and analysis of the thermal control subsystem (TCS) for a satellite in the power range of 1 kW to 4 kW
- Working with System Engineering Team in tasks such as unit accommodation, trade-off analysis, system-level FMEA, electrical architecture, AIT plan, FDIR definition.
- System Modelling, Analysis & Temperature Predictions of all the related hardware in the satellite
- TCS Requirements specification based on the previous analysis
- TCS Design Subsystem documentation (architecture, analysis and components)
- TCS Hardware Specification based on the previous design
- Vendors contact and components pre-selection
LOCATION OF THE ROLE
- This role can be based either at our HQ in Helsinki, Finland or London, UK. We support relocation to Helsinki, and integration into Finnish society: you can find some experiences about relocation here. If your preferred home base is UK, we expect that you already have a right to work in the UK as well as willingness to travel to Helsinki on a frequent basis.
