JOB OVERVIEW
We are pleased to announce that we are seeking a Senior Science Technician to join our department on a permanent, full-time basis. Our Science department offers A Level courses in all disciplines, BTEC Level 3, GCSE Combined courses, and T Levels. This position is based at Cadbury College, with occasional travel between campuses as needed. If you’re passionate about science education and ready to make a significant impact, we would love to hear from you!
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE
The ideal candidate should possess an A Level, HNC, or an equivalent qualification in science, along with relevant experience. Experience of working in a school/college/HE lab environment is desirable but not essential. Strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The candidate must be capable of maintaining and repairing equipment to ensure it remains in good working order. A solid understanding of health and safety regulations, including COSHH and CLEAPSS guidelines, is important. Additionally, a willingness to undertake first aid training, if not already qualified, is required.
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining equipment and materials for practical science lessons, ensuring that experiments run smoothly and safely. You will oversee and support other science technicians, monitor the quality of their work, and assist with task allocation. By providing expert technical guidance to teachers, you will help prepare solutions, cultures, and models needed for examinations. A key focus of this position will be health and safety, which includes handling chemicals in accordance with COSHH regulations and following CLEAPSS guidelines. Additionally, you will manage stock levels, ensure that lab equipment is well-maintained, and support science-related events such as open days and demonstrations.
