Description

THE POSITION

Are you passionate about transforming cutting-edge science into impactful communication? As the Senior Scientific Communications Manager at Boehringer Ingelheim, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering scientific communication strategies for designated assets.
In close collaboration with Therapeutic Area asset teams, cross-functional partners, and regional operating units (R/OPUs), you will drive the planning and creation of compelling scientific content designed to engage both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
This dynamic role calls for adaptability, creativity, and a forward-thinking mindset to develop innovative, patient- and customer-focused materials that reflect the latest scientific advancements. If you are ready to make a difference through the power of science and storytelling, this is the opportunity for you!

REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced scientific or clinical degree (e.g., M.S., PhD, MD, PharmD), or extensive experience in a comparable role.
  • Proven track record with several years in Medical Affairs, Medical Information, or Publication Management within the pharmaceutical industry—or equivalent experience in medical communications, including editorial, publishing, and scientific writing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in collaborating with external experts and authors, along with hands-on experience in managing vendors, budgets, and navigating cross-functional, multinational teams.
  • Strong capabilities in process management, including leading cross-functional initiatives, defining project scope, and delivering impactful plans and presentations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a performance-driven mindset and the ability to operate independently while influencing across complex matrixed organizations.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
Responsibilities
  • In your new role, you will shape the global scientific communications content strategy for a designated Indication/Asset, translating overarching asset strategies into concrete short- and mid-term publication plans and medical information deliverables. This includes overseeing core strategic planning processes-development, approval, and internal communication of the scientific communications strategy.
  • You will lead end-to-end coordination for the timely creation and release of scientific content, supported by the Medical Operations Services Team. Your responsibilities will also include driving operational enhancements and supporting the rollout of functional processes within regional operating units ((R)OPUs), ensuring compliance with corporate SOPs and the delivery of clear, accurate, and unbiased scientific information.
  • As part of the role, you’ll identify, assess, and manage external service providers aligned with the global scientific communications sourcing strategy. Your focus will be on maintaining high standards of quality, fostering innovation, and optimizing cost efficiency.
  • Additionally, you’ll own the annual budget planning and management process in collaboration with budget owners and line managers, ensuring alignment with approved financial allocations.
  • Serving as a functional subject matter expert, you will guide scientific communications activities within your Indication/Asset. You will champion best practices, uphold ethical standards, and ensure the consistent delivery of impactful and compliant scientific content tailored to diverse stakeholder needs.
  • As a senior team member, you will take ownership of high-impact special projects, driving strategic initiatives and cross-functional collaboration beyond core responsibilities.
