Description We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Scientist specializing with Biochemistry/Chemistry background to join B2S Critical Reagents Team Umbrella. The ideal candidate will play a key role in diligent design, generation, and characterization of critical reagents directly to the advancement of large molecule bioanalytical pipelines. Position Summary: The Senior Scientist I – Critical Reagents is responsible for the generation, characterization, and lifecycle management of custom critical reagents to support the development of robust, regulated bioanalytical assays for large-molecule biotherapeutics. Critical reagents include well-characterized polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, conjugated proteins and peptides, gene therapy vectors, oligonucleotides, and critical reagent kits. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and collaborate within a multidisciplinary scientific environment, contributing to innovation, assay robustness, and scientific excellence across the development lifecycle of large-molecule biotherapeutics. Key Responsibilities. Serves as a Scientist/Principal Scientist for clients’ projects. Performs a variety of protein conjugation chemistry, protein purification activities and downstream biochemical/bioanalytical and biophysical characterization methodologies. Able to design, execute, trouble shoot experiments associated with critical reagents generation and /or characterization with minimum supervision. Compiles scientific data (including analysis and technical writing) and able to present data in an intelligible format suitable for a professional audience. Able to train junior level scientists. Reports and treats data with prominent level of integrity and ethics. Complies with application able regulations (GXP); maintains proper records in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies; independently designs and performs scientific experiments with a pre-defined goal including developing new methodologies, protocols, and/or test procedures that contribute to core group research goals and reflect expert knowledge. Independently apply basic scientific principles, performs literature searches, attends scientific meetings, and keeps up to date on literature in the biotherapeutic bioanalysis field. Maintains laboratory equipment, as needed. Requirements Education Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, chemistry or related discipline with related experience in biology/chemistry techniques is required. M.S. degree in biochemistry, chemistry or a related discipline, 10+ years with related experience in biology/chemistry techniques is required. Experience Hands-on experience with protein purification methodologies using various chromatography techniques. Proficiency in basic protein characterization techniques such as ELISA, SDS-PAGE, analytical chromatography techniques [E.g. SEC, NP/RP – HPLC, ion exchange methodologies] Optional Technical Skills: Experience or familiarity with protein and peptide conjugation techniques, including site-specific and non-site-specific labeling approaches (e.g., NHS-ester, maleimide, and click-chemistry-based conjugations) for use in regulated bioanalytical assays. Optional Technical Skills: BLI/SPR or capillary electrophoresis [CE-SDS, cIEF]; or familiarity with protein stability profiling techniques [DLS/SLS/ DSF etc]. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, external partners, and key stakeholders. Demonstrated organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of precision. Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly multitasking environment while consistently delivering against objectives. Excellent critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the capability to design, execute, and interpret complex experiments and datasets. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality results under tight timelines and deadlines. Physical Demands Ability to stand less than 1/3 of the time. Work Environment The work environment is in an office/laboratory environment. Travel up to 1-5% percent of the time. Frequent use of a computer is necessary. This position requires working independently, as well as part of a team. While performing the duties of this job the noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud and has moderate temperatures. Personal protective equipment is required to be worn in designated lab areas: closed-toed shoes, laboratory coat, safety goggles, and gloves.
