Your role
- Must have mastery with animal protein applications & prototype creation, both on the bench and in a production environment (Scale-ups @ key locations)
- Ability to quickly train and communicate with other application and operational technologists on this know-how
- Be the subject matter expert and key communicator on animal protein including biochemistry, flavor interactions, functional ingredient solutions, and current industry research
- Build a strong network of key industry and academic partners and technical solution providers
- Ability to work closely with our internal R&T team for best practices in analytical methods, micro testing protocols and shelf-life studies
- Must be able to interface and communicate technical findings to key customers and internal global partners
- Direct the development and execution of both short and long-term R&D for animal protein application projects
About you
• A strong technical background is required with a minimum of an M.S. degree in Food Science combined with strong technical experience in meat science application. PhD preferred. •
- 7-10 years research applications experience with knowledge of the US food industry. CPG experience a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of processed meat applications; challenges and solutions.
- This position requires a detailed oriented individual with the ability to resolve complex technical problems related to flavors and functional ingredients within food systems. The ability to integrate analytical and sensory data is a plus. Must possess ability to explain simple technical content.
- In depth knowledge of the North America processed meats customer base.
- Strong network of technical solution providers.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to be able to develop and maintain strong business relationships
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
- Hands on application development using laboratory, pilot plant and plant equipment.
- Strong oral and written English communications skills are essential.
- Ability to troubleshoot in a production or pilot plan environment.
- Bonafide Occupational Qualifier- must be willing and able to taste experimental food products and smell flavors.
- Knowledge of SAP, Regulatory databases (Leffingwell and Allured), USDA/FDA regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint for reporting
