Description
Company Description Our client is a leading independent energy infrastructure group headquartered in Belgium, with operations across Europe, the Middle East, and South America. The company specializes in gas transmission, storage, and LNG terminalling, managing extensive pipeline infrastructure and terminals. As a key player in the energy transition, the organization is committed to enabling the shift toward carbon neutrality—transporting natural gas today while preparing infrastructure for hydrogen, biomethane, CO₂, and other low-carbon energy carriers of tomorrow. Job Description Summary To support the transformation to a product-centric organisation and operating model, our client is seeking seasoned Scrum Masters with proven experience in a scaled agile environment (preferably LeSS). You will guide two teams through the change from component to newly-formed cross-functional feature teams, and inspire and coach Scrum Masters from other teams (former team & project leaders with limited experience in scaled agile environments). About the Role As Scrum Master for a Gas Flow Management (GFM) product team, you will serve as a key enabler of team performance, fostering an agile mindset and supporting the delivery of digital solutions that underpin core commercial and operational processes. You will coach teams and stakeholders to inspect and adapt effectively, foster self-management, and help simplify organizational structures and processes to support feature teams. You will guide teams and Product Owners in practicing Scrum across multiple teams working on one product. This is an opportunity to contribute to the long-term evolution of a critical product that supports gas flow management for multiple Transmission System Operators (TSOs) across Europe. Key Responsibilities Guide and support the agile team by facilitating Scrum ceremonies: daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Lead teams through the transition from component to cross-functional feature teams. Inspire and coach new Scrum Masters from other teams, especially those with limited scaled agile experience. Coach teams on self-organization, (scaled) Agile principles, and continuous improvement. Enable teams to identify and address their own impediments, while focusing on removing systemic obstacles to agility and cross-team collaboration. Foster collaboration between team members and stakeholders, including product owners, analysts, developers, and business users. Help maintain a healthy and sustainable team pace, balancing delivery goals with team well-being. Support the Product Owner in maintaining a well-organized and transparent backlog. Drive improvements in agile practices and tools (e.g., metrics, retrospectives, team health checks). Promote transparency of product progress through clear definitions of done, visible backlogs, and frequent inspection. Actively facilitate cross-team alignment, knowledge sharing, and dependency management in a scaled agile environment. Promote shared agile practices and synchronize ways of working across interconnected teams. Encourage a culture of accountability, learning, and mutual respect. Support talent development and continuous growth by coaching team members and facilitating skill-building opportunities. Collaborate with product people managers and other stakeholders to identify skill gaps and support career progression. Qualifications Skills & Competencies Must Have: Proven experience as a Scrum Master in a scaled agile environment (preferably LeSS), ideally in a complex or regulated domain (minimum 5 years). Profound understanding and certification in a scaled agile framework (e.g., LeSS, SAFe, etc.). Strong change management skills. Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholder groups. Strong facilitation, coaching, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written). Nice to Have: Experience with agile delivery tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, etc.). Familiarity with modern DevOps practices and agile delivery pipelines. Experience in other roles within a software delivery environment (QA, developer, analyst, support). Experience with concurrent development practices and ability to coach developers from a technical perspective. Knowledge of Dutch or French. Other relevant agile certifications (PSM I/II, CSM, etc.). Mindset We Value Empathetic facilitator who creates psychological safety and fosters growth. Outcome-oriented, focused on delivering value and connecting daily work to product goals. Proactive problem solver who addresses friction early and collaboratively. Adaptable and able to adjust coaching to fit team maturity. Team builder who cultivates trust, shared ownership, and continuous improvement. Transparent and structured communicator, ensuring clarity at every level.
