Description

What to Expect
Gigafactory Berlin forms the perfect basis for rolling out Tesla’s incredible success story in Europe. The most important pillar for this are our employees. Their passion, motivation and engagement ensure that we achieve our goals. We are looking for you to continue and expand this success story together.
We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Seat Process Engineer to join our team in advancing the manufacturing processes for automotive seating systems in a high-volume production environment. The Seat Process Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing processes to ensure quality, efficiency, and sustainability in seat assembly from concept through to full-scale production. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, external vendors, and technology partners to drive innovation and achieve manufacturing excellence.
The ideal candidate is a problem-solver with a passion for hands-on work, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to quality. If you thrive in a dynamic environment where superior performance is recognized, and you are eager to contribute to the future of automotive seating technology, we encourage you to apply!
What You’ll Do

Product Design for Manufacturability and Sustainability:

  • Conduct Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) analyses to ensure design precision.
  • Design and execute Design of Experiments (DOEs) to optimize process parameters.
  • Develop Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA/PFMEA) and identify “critical-to-quality” parameters.
  • Create specifications for preventative and detection methods to ensure quality control.
  • Lead process testing, validation, and documentation of product requirements for equipment specification.

Process Development and Implementation:

  • Drive process development for early concept, prototype, and production phases through to Start of Production (SOP) +90 days.
  • Conduct technology research and development to innovate design and manufacturing processes for seat assembly.
  • Invent, develop, trial, and test processes that influence product design and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Release processes through detailed manufacturing instructions, workstation/line layouts, product trials, and prototype production management.

Factory Design and Optimization:

  • Design factory layouts and simulations for line balancing, capacity modelling, and part/assembly presentation.
  • Specify hand tools and equipment for manual assembly tasks related to seating systems.
  • Implement data systems for process monitoring and yield studies.
  • Lead product launch activities and process validation, including drafting qualification protocols and managing qualification activities.
  • Utilize statistical tools (e.g., GR&R, SPC, Cp/Cpk) to ensure process and fixture performance.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Coordinate with process, equipment, mechanical, electrical, and support teams, including project managers and manufacturing representatives.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional groups to drive continuous improvement in seat assembly processes.
  • Manage multiple priorities with a self-driven approach and a willingness to engage in hands-on work.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years in high-volume automotive manufacturing, with focus on automated assembly and seating systems.
  • Expertise in GD&T, PFMEA, PPAP, lean manufacturing, and statistical tools.
  • Proficiency in CAD (e.g., NX, SolidWorks) and simulation software (e.g., Simul8, Flexsim).
  • Knowledge of automation systems (e.g., robotics, PLC, HMI, vision systems).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; ability to manage priorities and travel (10%).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; data analysis experience.
  • Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience in seat structure design or automotive suppliers
  • Familiarity with sustainable manufacturing and process innovation
  • Travel required – 10%
