Mō te tūranga | About the role Reporting to the Chief Security Officer, the Senior Security Advisor will offer expert advice to improve the physical security design of DOC assets and utilise their expertise to integrate processes, systems, and security controls across all DOC assets. You will be confident in leading the implementation and execution of Security & Investigation projects, and you will actively participate in the team’s annual and semi-annual planning initiatives. Please note the role may involve regular domestic travel. Your responsibilities will include; Provide expert guidance on security policies and procedures to increase DOC’s security capability and awareness. Develop and implement comprehensive security strategies to protect organisational assets. Conduct risk assessments; lead incident response efforts and investigations related to security breaches. Collaborate with stakeholders to promote a culture of security awareness and best practices. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging threats to adapt strategies accordingly. Click here for the Role Description Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience We are looking for someone with substantial experience in the security industry or law enforcement sectors within the public sector. We are keen to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience; Experience in the security or risk management sectors (personnel security and physical security). Background in an advisory role focused on threat mitigation, preferably from a large, distributed organisation. Experience in electronic security systems including design and certification Proven knowledge of PHYSEC and PERSEC in accordance with government Protective Security Requirements. Collaborative team player with strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Current full driving licence. Please note, in order to be considered for this role, you must be able to obtain security clearance at SECRET level and the criteria for this is follows; most preferably a New Zealand citizen, who has resided continuously in New Zealand for at least the last five (5) years, OR is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five (5) years: either Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
