We are now looking for a (Senior) Researcher with expertise at the intersection of Machine Learning and Security/Privacy, to join the Network Data and Security research team of Nokia Bell Labs, in Espoo, Finland. This pure research team looks at and tackles long-term research topics in security, privacy and network data, motivated by the future of our industry and beyond.
Our team is part of the Network System & Security Research (NSSR) lab, whose aim is to securely orchestrate and compute data and network elements across heterogeneous environments. To achieve this goal, we work on a variety of topics ranging from extended computing and autonomous systems to E2E network security and data & knowledge privacy.
As part of our team, you will:
- Identify, define, conduct, and manage relevant security research topics and projects in the area of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning for security (theoretical and practical)
- Conduct self-guided scientific research with the goal of defining innovative concepts and solutions related to high-quality scientific publications at top security events
- Saving own research for Nokia by creating intellectual property rights (patents)
- Network, consult, and drive co-operations with internal and external security communities with a focus on the European ecosystem (academic research, industry and governmental organizations like BSI or ENISA)
- Present your own and other research by representing Nokia Bell Labs Security Research in internal and external events
- Act as a professional advisor and mentor for junior researchers
You have:
- A PhD in AI/ML or a related field of research and study (Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.) with 5+ years of research experience in an industry or academic context
- Theoretical knowledge and understanding of current machine learning models used in the industry, and their security concerns (deployment, structure, mathematics…), specifically on multi-agent-based models, e.g. Reinforcement Learning, or Federated Learning
- Experience or expertise in security and privacy aspects, around AI/ML or other domains of application and research
- Skills in directing research, proposing research directions and new challenges to undertake that align with a business or research strategic agenda
- Experience participating in or overseeing EU projects/National funding projects
- Excellent programming skills in industry-respected languages, including Python, with a proven ability to develop usable proof of concept or demo code for your research, work, or ideas
It would be nice if you also had:
- Know-how and experience of security application domains like 5G mobile networks or Industrial IoT
