The postholder will provide operational support to the Deputy Facilities Manager in their management of Security services within Bradford Teaching Hospitals (BTHFT)
The postholder will work closely with the Deputy Facilities Manager to support continuous review of services ensuring they are delivered in a cost effective and efficient manner.
This will involve establishing a good working knowledge of the Security service and developing good working relationships with the Head of Service, Deputy Facilities Manager, VPR Lead/LSMS, other Facilities Teams and service representatives across the Trust.
The jobholder will be required to support the management and development of a team consisting of 20-30 wte Security Officers and work collaboratively with Estates and other service colleagues within the Trust.
Such other duties at a comparable level of responsibility, as may normally be agreed with the jobholder.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Deputy Facilities Manager with day to day operational responsibility for Security service delivered at BRI/ SLH. promoting quality and service improvements, legislative compliance, delivery of NHS initiatives and a customer driven approach
  • Produce a weekly rota to ensure resources are used effectively in order to provide cover for service need. The rota should be set in line with budget and any additional staffing agreed with the Facilities Manager.
  • Approve staff annual leave requests in a timely manner in line with procedure and protocol
  • Deputise for Deputy Facilities Manager and represent service area at relevant meetings such as Facilities Management Team Meeting
  • To support the Deputy Facilities Manager to ensure effective cascade of communications and key information to all staff within service area, ensuring team briefs and staff meetings are regularly carried out.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with all staff within Estates & Facilities
  • Understand and apply all HR policies & procedures appropriately
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of staff within own team and to support other Facilities Teams with their recruitment processes.
  • Undertake appraisals ensuring that these happen in line with the incremental date, identifying training & development needs and escalate any that can’t be easily met to the Deputy Facilities Manager.
  • Identify underachieving services and/or individuals, provide support and coaching and escalate to the Facilities Manager as appropriate.
  • Assist the Deputy Facilities Manager to undertake investigations in line with the Human Resources Trust Policies
  • Support the Deputy Facilities Manager in managing the sickness and absence of staff.
  • Work closely with the business management hub to review audits undertaken and support the Deputy Facilities Manager to produce action plans to resolve issues
  • Support the Deputy Facilities Manager to monitor, maintain and improve the quality of the service and identify opportunities for service improvement including implementation of service improvement initiatives
  • Support organisational readiness in preparation for any other external assessment as required ie CQC, PLACE, EHO
  • Ensure that all health and safety responsibilities are met within service area
  • Ensure that all risk assessments are up-to-date and undertake timely investigation of all risk incidents as and when required
  • Monitor Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) requirements across the service
  • Assist the Deputy Facilities Manager in the identification of the departmental Waste Reduction Plan and achieving financial balance
  • Liaise closely with clinical colleagues in order to ascertain any extra activity requests and the funding to support this, ensuring that this information is provided to the Deputy Facilities Manager for recharging
  • To operate within the data protection act 2018 (DPA) and monitor closed circuit television (CCTV) and associated equipment (access control, intruder alarms, diester patrols, body worn cameras etc). Manage access to CCTV requests in accordance with DPA, operate and monitor electronic access systems as required in accordance with procedures.

    Infection Prevention and Control
