MISSION AT HAND As our Senior SEO Manager you will be the person who can operate across the full spectrum — from hands-on technical audits to shaping long-term organic growth strategy. You'll own SEO end-to-end, work cross-functionally with content, product, and engineering, and help us stay ahead of how search is evolving, including the shift toward AI-generated answers and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). This is a role for someone who thinks strategically, executes rigorously, and gets genuinely curious about what comes next in search. DUTIES ON DECK Strategy & Ownership Develop and own the organic search strategy across all markets and channels Set measurable goals, report on performance, and translate data into decisions Align SEO roadmap with broader marketing and business objectives Content & On-Page SEO Oversee content strategy from a search perspective — topic clusters, search intent mapping, content briefs, and editorial calendars Collaborate with writers, editors, and designers to produce content that ranks and converts Lead content audits, pruning, and consolidation initiatives Technical SEO Conduct and prioritize technical audits (crawlability, indexability, Core Web Vitals, structured data, log file analysis) Partner with engineering to ship impactful technical changes Own site architecture, internal linking strategy, and international/hreflang setup where applicable Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) Develop and test strategies for visibility in AI-generated answers (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, etc.) Optimize for entity-based SEO, E-E-A-T signals, and structured data to improve AI citation likelihood Monitor how LLM-driven search behavior shifts traffic and adapt accordingly AI & Tooling Use AI tools to scale content operations, automate reporting, and accelerate research Experience building or working with AI workflows (e.g. n8n, Make, custom GPT pipelines) is a plus YOUR TREASURE OF EXPERIENCE 5+ years in SEO, with at least 2 in a senior or lead role Strong command of both content/on-page SEO and technical SEO fundamentals Proficiency with core tools: Google Search Console, Ahrefs/Semrush, Screaming Frog, GA4 Proven track record of driving measurable organic growth Ability to build business cases and communicate strategy to non-SEO stakeholders Solid understanding of GEO and how AI is reshaping search behavior Background working with international or multilingual sites EXTRA KNOTS FOR Experience building or automating SEO workflows using AI tools (e.g. n8n, Make, Python scripts, GPT-based pipelines) Familiarity with log file analysis, JavaScript SEO, or CDN/rendering concepts THE PIRATE SHIP OFFERS YOU Flexible working hours and a remote first company (with the freedom to work abroad for up to 181 days) A MacBook (also for private use) as well as any other needed equipment including a very lovely remote IT support 50€ for home office allowance per month 50€ tax free cash card per month Urban Sport Club Membership Mental health impulse sessions and relaxation sessions 2 volunteering days for an organization Further training budget at your free disposition Private Travel Insurance Opportunity to join the pirates pension scheme Save money with corporate discounts across brands like Adidas, LG, Bosch, Apple, and more Benefit from a number of advantages through the Travel Industry Card Visit our lovely office in Berlin Mitte as often as you want Business summits and legendary team events A unique and open company culture, where sharing ideas is our lifeblood The opportunity to leave your footprint aboard the pirate ship About us ⚓ Your Recruitment Journey Every great treasure hunt (a.k.a. our hiring process) has a few key steps.
