Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE

The Senior Sergeant provides daily supervisory and administrative services to meet legal requirements and deliver high-quality, professional services to clients. This includes managing court processes, overseeing jurors, and ensuring court security.
As a Senior Sergeant you may act as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) or Second-in-Charge (2IC), supervising a small team, including Sheriff’s Officers and effectively allocating resources to meet the operational needs of the Sheriff’s Office.
One out location with assistance of other Sheriff’s when court commitments increase. Willingness to travel to other courts within the Moree circuit on a weekly basis.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Supervise, mentor, and support team members in their duties, contributing to team development.
  • Allocate resources to ensure efficient court operations and maintain the safety and security of court complexes and users.
  • Perform law enforcement duties in accordance with relevant laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain records to meet financial and operational guidelines and ensure the Centre’s roster is up-to-date and visible.
  • Provide high-quality services to court users, including judicial officers and jurors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with court stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Commander and other OICs to provide assistance at other locations during resource shortages or high-risk operations.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of initiatives to improve work practices.
  • This is a one out OIC Sheriff location. Candidate must be able to work autonomously, seek assistance/advice when required. Effectively de-escalate volatile situations and have high level written skills for report writing.
