PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

IRIS2 is the new European Union secure satellite constellation. This project is the European Union’s answer to the pressing challenges of tomorrow to provide secure connectivity services and enhanced communication capacities to the EU and its Member States as well as to governmental users, private companies and European citizens while ensuring high-speed internet broadband to cope with connectivity dead zones.
SES – together with other consortium partners and core members - was selected by European Commission to build and to operate the IRIS2 multi-orbit satellite constellation.
The IRIS2 team enters the next project phase and there is a strong need for support for all the activities around service provisioning and products that the system can offer in the future.

QUALIFICATIONS BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, telecommunications and managed services
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience in leading IVV activities for complex systems involving multiple subsystems.
  • Proven experience in managing system integration and ensuring compliance with design requirements.
  • Experience in conducting comprehensive system performance and security verification.
  • Experience in developing and executing IVV plans and strategies.
  • Experience in managing project schedules and ensuring timely resolution of anomalies.
  • Good understanding of satellite systems and associated ground segment
  • Good understanding of 5G technologies
  • Familiarity with hardware and software development and in end to end systems integration
  • Fluency in English (any other language being an asset)

OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS/ COMMENTS

  • Eligibility for ESA/EU SECRET personnel security clearances is essential. Candidates must be prepared to undergo a security clearance procedure, as this position may require holding such a clearance
  • Willing to work at least 60% onsite from office
  • Travel as required for project realization purposes

Responsibilities

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

In your role you are the recognized expert for IVV and you are responsible for the areas of Ground, Space and User segments within the IRIS2 Programme. You are ensuring the complete requirement coverage through test plans produced by subsystem teams and overseeing the integration of all subsystems into a global system platform, functional advisor for junior engineers and your contribution to process improvements in IVV methodologies. You will be part of an agile project organization where a flexible way of working and an adaptive mindset is required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Responsible for System Interfaces:
  • Ensure a correct interface definition, including associated documentation.
  • Ensure a correct interface Risk assessment and Risk mitigation from a System of Systems Perspective.
  • Ensure a correct interface implementation.
  • Ensure a correct Point-to-Point IVV from a System of Systems Perspective.
  • Responsible for System Verification:
  • Verify installation and deployment procedures produced by subsystem teams.
  • Ensure global system behaviour compliance with requirements.
  • Verify end-to-end security and contribute to system certification efforts.
  • Characterize system performance and robustness, including failover scenarios.
  • Conduct test campaigns, analyse test data, and produce verification
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Contribute to user technical documentation.
  • Write test reports, compliance matrices, and manage lists of non-compliances.
  • Organize and execute site acceptance tests, including Assembly, Integration, and Verification (AIV) phases with satellites on the ground and in orbit.
  • Operational Support:
  • Support roll-out operations and prepare maintenance activities.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and training to ensure a ready-to-use customer platform.
  • Conduct tests of interconnection between spacecraft on the ground and ground systems.
  • Project Management:
  • Define and implement an IVV plan and strategy.
  • Monitor and organize activities to keep the project schedule on track.
  • Ensure representative tests in terms of use cases and test environments.
  • Manage anomalies and ensure timely resolution.
  • Interface with suppliers, partners, and stakeholders to coordinate verification activities.
  • Identify and manage requests for deviation and waiver (RFD/RFW).
  • Ensure IVV activities adhere to schedule, budget, and quality standards.
