NEW SENIOR ENGINEER POSITION IN BEDFORD!

  • Position: Senior Site Engineer (with own instruments and relevant insurances)
  • Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer with their own instruments to join a £300+ million new build scheme towards the end of July with anticipated end date of November 2027 but there is a realistic opportunity for a contract extension and follow on projects.

ATTRIBUTES AND SKILLS REQUIRED OR DESIRED

  • Proficiency in earthworks and enabling works.
  • Be able to calculate cut & fill quantities and produce the drawings.
  • Provide excavation support.
  • Be able to produce 3D models for earthworks and machine control.
  • Experience of drawing coordination.
  • Able to work closely with Structural Engineers, Civil Engineers and Architects.
  • Strong surveying experience
  • Excellent leadership skills to effectively supervise and manage contractors.
  • Solid experience in large new build industrial developments.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • HNC or higher in construction related field
  • In date SMSTS, CSCS Card, First Aid and Temporary Works Coordinator would be an advantage.
Responsibilities

Reporting to a Project Manager and Project Director you will be:

  • Sorting out initial setting out on sites
  • Liaising with the Tender Handover team and establishing ground models to fix levels.
  • Value Engineering the design with the team looking at potential savings
  • Monitor the Engineering team ensuring quality is met
  • Take off and pricing of materials and ordering to site for use
  • Input into planning including short term maps
  • Inputs into site safety
  • Management of subcontractors (earthworks, enabling works, groundworks and steel work)
  • Material reconciliations for bulk orders
  • Implementing new technology to speed up processes
  • Mentoring of junior Engineers
  • Inputs into site meetings
  • Contractor checks and QA.
