You will play a key role in transforming the way we deliver payments to Adult Social Care and Children & Young People’s providers across the borough. In this pivotal role, you will ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payments to a wide range of care providers, including home care agencies, residential care homes, direct payment carers, and foster carers. You will support the day‑to‑day operation of the payments service while driving improvements that help build a modern, responsive, and high‑performing function. The Person  We are looking for someone with experience in leadership or someone who is ready to develop and grow into leadership responsibilities, working closely with and supporting the Team Manager. You will have a strong background in payment or finance environments, with solid knowledge of payment systems, accurate financial transaction processing, and advanced Excel skills.  Experience in reconciliations, payment cycles, and system compliance is essential, along with the confidence to contribute to service improvements and support a growing and developing function. In this role, you will help allocate work and manage the workloads of the Payments Officers, ensuring the team delivers a high‑quality and efficient service. You will build strong, collaborative relationships both inside and outside the council, and support the Team Manager in resolving complex cases, providing clear, solution‑focused advice to colleagues and providers.
