About the Role: We are seeking a highly experienced and compassionate Social Worker to join the Cancer Supportive Care team at Canberra Health Services. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the psychosocial impacts of cancer, or chronic health issues, on the person and their support networks. You will have proven experience in assisting and supporting patients and their families/ carers with challenges of a life changing health condition. Whilst cancer specific experience and knowledge is desirable, it is not essential. We are seeking transferrable Social Work skills to support patients in an inpatient and outpatient setting, including completing thorough psychosocial assessments and providing skilled interventions, which may include referrals to relevant support services, emotional support and counselling, advocacy and future care planning. You will have a commitment and passion for promoting and providing positive client outcomes through the provision of high-quality Social Work support as part of a multidisciplinary team. Within this role you will also ensure you practice in line with the Australian Association of Social Work ethics, CHS practice standards, as well as the CHS values, to support the positive team culture both within the Social Work team and the wider Cancer Supportive Care Service. You will also have the opportunity to participate in Social Work specific professional development that is relevant to the oncology and haematology areas.
