We are recruiting a Senior Software Engineer to help build a new real-time, event-driven securities lending platform within a global financial-markets business.

This is a senior hands-on engineering role combining Java/Python development, platform architecture and external market-data integration, with direct exposure to traders and operations.

• The platform is being built around two key objectives:Workflow automation – streamlining reconciliation, risk management and reporting processes
• Front-to-back integration – bringing the full trading-to-settlement lifecycle into a single platform

This is an opportunity to join at an early stage and have genuine influence over both the technology and the engineering standards used to build it.

• What you'll be doingDesigning and developing Java server-side and UI components
• Building Python ETL and data-processing pipelines
• Developing integrations with external vendors, market-data providers and financial systems
• Working with real-time and reference market data, including Bloomberg-related integrations
• Building event-driven workflows using technologies such as Kafka
• Working directly with traders and operations teams to turn business requirements into production solutions
• Owning the design and delivery of technical and process workflows
• Contributing to architecture decisions and the strategic direction of the platform
• Establishing engineering standards and development best practice
• Reviewing code and mentoring more junior engineers
• Representing the platform with internal stakeholders and external technology vendors

• What we're looking forTypically 7+ years' software engineering experience
• Strong commercial experience with Java and/or Python, with Java particularly desirable
• Strong understanding of software engineering and application architecture
• Practical experience working with relational databases and SQL
• Comfortable working in Linux environments
• Experience integrating applications with external APIs, vendors or data providers
• Experience contributing to or leading architecture discussions
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience mentoring engineers and helping establish engineering best practice
