QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Qualifications:

• Minimum five GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English
• Two A-Level passes or equivalent
• Degree or HND in Computing or related field (preferred)
• ITIL4 Foundation certification (desirable)

Experience:

• 3+ years as a Java developer in a commercial setting
• Skilled in gathering requirements and translating them into technical solutions
• Hands-on experience with XP practices: TDD, CI, refactoring, pair programming
• Strong understanding of OO design and software patterns
• Proficient in Spring/Java, Docker, Kubernetes
• Web development experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS
• Full software development lifecycle exposure
• Skilled in relational database design and SQL performance tuning
• Familiar with testing tools like JUnit, JMeter, Selenium
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Knowledge of secure coding practices
• Agile development experience

• Proven track record of driving engineering improvementsExperience mentoring and supporting team development

An excellent opportunity has opened within our IT department within CNS for a Senior Developer to join us and be based out of our operation in the Southampton.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, build, and maintain software solutions using clean, efficient code
• Use tools like Java, Spring Boot and Hibernate to develop reliable applications
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects effectively
• Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, ensuring smooth system performance
• Write and maintain clear technical documentation
• Develop and run tests to ensure software quality
• Suggest improvements to development processes and team workflows
• Mentor junior developers and support knowledge sharingEnsure compliance with company policies and industry standards
