This is your task:

• Development and further development of embedded software for innovative welding systems based on microcontroller, FPGA and embedded Linux platforms
• Definition and continuous optimization of architectural principles and technical standards for maintainable, testable and future-proof embedded software solutions
• Ensuring high quality, cybersecurity and product safety standards in the software development process
• Implementation and optimization of control functions for stable and reproducible welding processes
• Development of interfaces between device electronics, HMI, sensors, actuators and industrial communication systems
• Analysis, testing and troubleshooting directly on the product in close collaboration with hardware development and application engineering.
• Providing technical support to the team in the implementation of sophisticated embedded software solutions
• Evaluation of new technologies and derivation of relevant impulses for product and software development
• Active participation in development processes, quality standards and technological innovations

You bring the following with you:

• Completed studies in computer science, electrical engineering, software engineering or comparable qualification (e.g. electronics/computer science technician)
• Several years of experience in software development, ideally in the embedded environment
• Solid knowledge of software architecture, software design and the entire software development process
• Excellent programming skills in embedded C/C++, ideally complemented by Python, Go or VHDL
• Experience with microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex, STM32), embedded Linux, and modern development tools such as GitHub and Visual Studio Code
• Experience with software quality, cybersecurity, and security- and maintenance-oriented software development
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as CAN, CANopen or Ethernet is advantageous.
• Experience in low-level software development, a good understanding of electronic circuits, and proficiency in electrical measurement technology are desirable.
• Ideally, knowledge of embedded Linux frameworks (e.g., Yocto) as well as MQTT, cloud, and database technologies.
• Experience in the targeted use of AI-supported tools to increase productivity, quality and development speed represents a further advantage.
• The ability to provide technical guidance to colleagues and to represent technical decisions in a comprehensible manner.
• Structured and solution-oriented work style as well as enjoyment of teamwork
• Self-initiative and the ability to proactively identify and sustainably solve technical challenges
• Fluent in German and English, both spoken and written (at least C1 level)
