Geotab is seeking a Senior Software Developer who will create web-based applications in JavaScript, C#, and SQL to create fast and responsive user interfaces. The projects will vary in scope, complexity, and affected business area. If you love technology, and are keen to join an industry leader — we would love to hear from you! What you'll do: As a Senior Software Developer, your key area of responsibility will be creating web-based applications, developing tools for data analysis (such as iPython scripts), and ensuring the performance, scalability, and UI design of designs and threading. You will need to work closely with more junior team members to provide guidance, as well as Leads and senior leaders to offer recommendations on new technologies and frameworks. To be successful in this role, you will be a strong team player with an entrepreneurial mindset who is comfortable in a flat organization and possesses high accuracy and meticulous attention to detail. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical and project management skills with an ability to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage complex coding challenges through to completion. How you'll make an impact: Write scalable, high quality and secure software in a variety of programming languages and environments, such as C#, JavaScript, and SQL. Listen and contribute to design discussions, documenting requirements and technical design while ensuring efficient maintenance and code reuse. Perform quality assurance through peer reviews and analyze performance data to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of bugs. Provide guidance to junior team members and technical assistance to support staff and resellers. Research new language features and frameworks to offer recommendations to leadership and assist in defining team best practices. Ensure the functionality, performance, scalability, and system architecture for each assignment, including participation in on-call schedules. What you'll bring to this role: 5 - 8 years of experience as a Software Developer using object-oriented programming to build scalable applications Post-secondary Diploma/Degree specialization in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Knowledge of multiple general purpose programming languages (e.g. C#, Java, Python) and expert knowledge with optimizing databases (e.g. MySQL, SQL Server, Postgres). Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, and proficiency in Git or other distributed source control tools. Experience with Google Compute Engine, Google BigQuery, and developing iPython scripts for data analysis. Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve and make well-judged decisions. Geotab offers various perks and benefits and other compensation components that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary for this position depends on a variety of factors such as but not limited to skills, qualifications, education and overall experience, including the location the applicant lives while performing the job. This also includes equity with other team members and alignment with local market data. All offers of employment are contingent upon proof of eligibility to work and the individual's ability to pass a background check. Hiring Range $101,600—$135,000 CAD
