This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Developer – Ruby on Rails / Next.js in Latin America. We are seeking a Senior Software Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance web applications in a fully remote, collaborative environment. You will work across back-end and front-end components, primarily with Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and Next.js, while contributing to software architecture, code quality, and performance optimization. The role involves mentoring junior developers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring that technical solutions are robust, maintainable, and aligned with business goals. Accountabilities · Design, develop, and maintain clean, efficient, and maintainable code in Ruby on Rails. · Build and maintain GraphQL APIs and integrate front-end components with server-side logic using Next.js. · Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including planning, testing, deployment, and code reviews. · Identify performance bottlenecks, troubleshoot issues, and propose effective solutions. · Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and ship new features. · Serve as a technical reference, mentoring junior developers and fostering continuous learning. · Stay up to date with best practices, industry trends, and emerging technologies to drive innovation. · 5+ years of professional experience in software development, including 3+ years with Ruby on Rails in production. · Strong experience designing and building GraphQL APIs and integrating web services. · Knowledge of Next.js/React and understanding of front-end development principles. · Proficiency in PostgreSQL and relational database design. · Solid foundation in computer science concepts, object-oriented programming, design patterns, and best practices. · Experience working in distributed, remote teams across multiple time zones. · Familiarity with version control (Git), agile methodologies, DevOps/CI/CD practices, and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure). · Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience. · Advanced English reading and writing skills; spoken English sufficient to understand technical discussions. · Passion for clean energy, sustainability, and innovative technology solutions. · Residence in a Latin American country supported by Remote.com (preference for Chile). · Legal employment via Remote.com with payment in your local currency. · Competitive salary. · Flexible work hours and generous paid vacation. · Option for a company-provided device after probation. · Virtual team-building activities and annual off-site in the U.S. · Access to company ChatGPT account and online learning resources. · Fully remote, collaborative environment supporting work-life balance.
