JOB DESCRIPTION

The Quant IQ (QIQ) development team is a specialist software development team in Statkraft’s Market Solutions Software Development department that delivers software services and tools for the commodity trading business area in Statkraft. On a technical level, we deliver an Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) based solution serving a containerized development environment (Coder) and automating build and deployment. In addition, the team supports dedicated Quant developers providing a wide range of solutions ranging from web applications to advanced analytics tools.
Custom software development is essential for Statkraft to remain a market leader in energy trading solutions and we are now looking for great people to join our software development team. If you enjoy challenging yourself and working in a competitive industry where technology is evolving the business we operate in, then we would love to talk to you. If you are motivated by working for a company that is a key part of the solution for creating an environmentally sustainable society then Statkraft is the company for you.
As part of the team you will be required to work closely with business users in our world-wide offices in the trading sections of the company, and you will learn a lot about international commodity and financial asset trading. Our service technology stack consists of GitLab CI/CD created Linux based containers deployed in AKS. All business functionality is exposed in Python client libraries and custom tooling written in Python. Work is coordinated in weekly sprints using JIRA. System documentation is written in Sphinx.

OTHER USEFUL SKILLS:

  • Mathematical understanding
  • Experience in handling or analyzing time series data
  • Experience with trading processes is a bonus, but not a requirement
  • Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS is an advantage, but web development is not the main focus
Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE:

  • Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient, and testable code
  • Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting
  • Review and debug code
  • Perform validation and verification testing
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute tasks in the software development life cycle
  • Participate in the software architecture design
  • Critically analyze business requirements and translate them into concise technical solutions
  • Participate in the upskilling of business users to become citizen developers. This will require explaining technical foundations as well as intricacies of programming. Pair development will be required. The business users are eager to learn; here, you have an opportunity to shape a new generation to code to correct standards.
