Senior Software Development Engineer Are you a motivated technologist who can balance technical depth and interpersonal skills while working with partner teams to develop platform solutions? If so, we are hiring a Sr. Software Engineer for the Expedia Fraud and Risk team, you’ll be working in highly collaborative, fast-paced, high-energy environment. EFR develops and manages the systems to protect Expedia and partners from fraud activity/financial loss/noncompliance/brand damage. The Sr. Software Engineer will take a lead role in expanding EFR’s capabilities for complex signal detection, scaling, cost optimization etc .You will own the technical solution design, while developing with a team of engineers, product managers, and architects building features for ERF platform team with business and product partners to drive the road map and strategy for the group in this area. As someone who loves to look beyond the status quo, you will work to gain solid understanding of EFR domain, help define and prioritize new features, and offer constructive critiques of planned features. You will possess knowledge of technology platforms to bring together different components and form a fully functional solution to a business problem. You enjoy solving complex problems, work optimally with across teams and thrive in a constantly evolving setting. You have a strategic attitude and should be proficient in system architecture and design. What you’ll do: Build scalable, reliable, and low-latency systems designed for the cloud Deliver secure, maintainable, and easy-to-integrate platform services Lead system design discussions and present solutions to technical and non-technical audiences Collaborate with technical leaders and architects to align on strategy and adopt emerging technologies Establish and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and CI/CD processes Drive innovation by exploring and applying AI/ML and cloud technologies Work with product and business teams to define roadmaps and execution plans Design integration patterns with internal and external partners Produce clear technical documentation and regular status updates for stakeholders Communicate progress and challenges on complex projects to senior leadership. Who you are: 8+ years for Bachelor's or 6+ years for Master's Worked in at least in 2 multi-quarter projects. Worked in decentralized teams and projects. Formally mentored at least 3 individuals. Drove technical design end-to-end of at least 3 projects. Strong experience in Java (or Kotlin), Spring Boot, and API development Deep understanding of cloud architecture, preferably AWS Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Hugging Face, LangChain, Pinecone) Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines Justifies technology choices to technical and non-technical observers. Serves as an expert for a given domain. Mentors' other engineers (Individual Contributor I, II, III). Understands highly complex systems and design moderately complex systems. Identifies business problems at the team level and provide solutions and guides integration across teams within business units. Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-team collaboration skills Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail Establishes operational excellence metrics at the team level.
