We take great pride in being an inclusive employer that offers equal opportunities, and we celebrate the diversity and multiculturalism of our team. We're growing fast and always pushing ourselves to do better - we play for #1. In your role as a Senior Software Engineer 2 - Web on the Checkout & Payments team**, you will own the most critical step of our customer's journey, architecting a seamless, secure, and frictionless experience where revenue is realized. This is not just a coding role; you will be a technical leader, strategist, and the key influencer for our web technologies. You will be instrumental in building a delightful cart, checkout, and payments experience while also defining and driving the overarching web strategy for the entire Consumer domain, ensuring technical excellence and cohesion across four engineering teams. Job Description Define Web Vision & Strategy: Define and drive the 6-12 month technical vision and web strategy for the entire Consumer domain, translating complex business goals into a concrete technical roadmap for multiple teams. Architect & Build: Design, develop, and operate resilient, high-performance, and secure web experiences using technologies like Vue.js, Node.js, TypeScript, Nuxt, and NextJS. You will build the core of our transactional web flows, from cart management to payment processing. Lead & Influence: Act as a strong technical leader and a key influencer on frontend architecture across the wider engineering organization. You will mentor other engineers, lead architectural discussions, and make pragmatic trade-offs to deliver customer value effectively. Solve Ambiguous Problems: Tackle challenging, open-ended problems related to checkout conversion, payment integration, and pricing display in partnership with senior peers and product managers. You will be responsible for defining the 'what,' the 'how,' and the 'when,' breaking down complexity into actionable plans. Drive Cross-Domain Impact: Lead and contribute to strategic initiatives that span multiple engineering teams within the Consumer domain, ensuring seamless execution and delivery with minimal guidance. Innovate & De-risk: Champion a culture of experimentation by regularly using proofs of concept and A/B testing to validate architectural choices, improve planning, and mitigate risks in critical user flows. Collaborate Deeply: Work hand-in-hand with Product Managers, Backend Engineers, Designers, and other stakeholders to shape a world-class checkout product. Qualifications Extensive experience in frontend software engineering, with a proven track record of designing, building, and maintaining complex, scalable, and business-critical web applications. Deep proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks like Vue.js or React.js. Strong, hands-on experience architecting scalable frontend systems, including expertise in server-side rendering (e.g., Next.js or Nuxt.js) and Backend for Frontend (BFF) services. Demonstrable experience building highly reliable and secure transactional interfaces, preferably in an e-commerce or fintech environment. Proven ability to lead large-scale technical projects, define technical strategy across multiple teams, and mentor other engineers to raise the bar for the entire domain. Experience with modern development practices including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (unit, integration, E2E), and observability for frontend applications. Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, from junior engineers to product leadership. AI-assisted development experience and enthusiasm, leveraging coding agents like GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, Claude Code, or similar tools is a significant plus.
