  • Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer ideally with a focus on media-related projects.
  • Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience with providing coaching and mentoring
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to the development of business scenarios.
  • Knowledge of software development tools and technologies.
  • You are flexible and curious in your approach
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer who lives and breathes mobile technology with expert knowledge of Android development to join us working with our media client. This role runs from start of April 2025 until mid-September.
You will have the opportunity to build the next generation of their News, Sport and Weather applications whilst working in close collaboration with other disciplines in a highly cross functional and autonomous environment. You will make a key contribution to the entire development lifecycle including new writing features, fixing bugs and performing code reviews.
The successful application will have expert Kotlin knowledge, be comfortable with Compose functional programming, have experience using the Play Store and CI/CD and enjoy working following the Agile Scrum methodology.

ESSENTIAL KEY SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

You will:

  • have extensive experience working on native app development using Kotlin
  • have collaborated in the design, development, deployment and support of robust software for large and complex operations
  • be comfortable with Compose functional programming
  • have experience using Play Store, CI/CD, Charles and the general mobile native ecosystem
  • have professional experience of working in projects using Agile Scrum development processes
  • have trunk based development and release trains with feature flags (desired)
  • have experience of building accessible applications (desired)
  • have experience building, distributing share mobile libraries (desired)
  • be comfortable working with product and delivery team members on refining, scoping and delivery of features/bug fixes (desired)
  • enjoy collaborating with other engineers
  • have a strong willingness to learn and be a keen team player
  • have experience of writing and taking responsibility for technical documentation
