Description

We’re seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our GitLab’s Platform Team, a strategic powerhouse driving the technical foundation that empowers our entire engineering organization. This is your opportunity to architect solutions that directly impact over 20,000 software engineers across the company, shaping how they build, deploy, and scale GitLab’s industry-leading DevSecOps platform.

To be successful as a Senior Software Engineer, you should have:

  • Experience designing and implementing distributed systems with microservices architecture and applying software design patterns (SOLID principles, Factory, Observer, Strategy, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Java development (Golang and C# would also be considered)
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS and other public cloud platforms (RDS, S3, EC2, ECS)

Additional skills include:

  • Experience in designing systems that are highly available and scalable
  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipeline design, implementation, and optimization
  • Other scripting languages (Python, Bash, Ruby)

This role is based out of our Glasgow office.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
