QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of application development experience
  • Track record of driving implementation of architecture designs and patterns in durable user-facing systems at scale
  • Track record of applying quantitative and qualitative analysis to solve complex problems across software engineering teams
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Azure, .NET, CosmosDB, and React
  • Experience with API design, microservice architectures, micro frontend patterns, SalesForce, and SignalR highly preferred
  • Experience with DevOps capabilities such as automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery preferred
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop others
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Decision Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent alternative education, skills, and/or practical experience is required and 5+ years of relevant work experience or
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Decision Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent alternative education, skills, and/or practical experience is required and 3+ years of relevant work experience
    Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the Richmond, VA CarMax Technology Innovation Center or the Dallas, TX Technology Hub and have a Hybrid work arrangement.
    Work Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be considered for this specific role.

Responsibilities
  • Partner to define and evolve a flexible technical strategy in our Dealer Ecosystem to build a foundation upon which we can efficiently innovate and modernize business capabilities.
  • Understand our customer and associate personas and their journeys, making data-driven decisions.
  • Recommend performance, cost, and quality improvements while increasing our pace of experimentation and innovation.
  • Guide and mentor software engineers on our product teams.
  • Learn, design, and implement established and emerging architectural styles and patterns into our products to solve common problems with systems.
  • Maintain a broad understanding of all aspects of the teams’ technical software requirements including reliability, security, scalability, and usability.
  • Build consensus and acceptance of improvements and changes to CarMax software engineering patterns, standards, and processes.
  • Courageously drive strategic initiatives and challenge upward and across the Technology enterprise when necessary.
  • Effectively communicate to tailor the message to the audience, facilitate group discussions with diplomacy, and seek diverse opinions.
