We are seeking a full stack senior software engineer who will be part of a team focused on building robust, enterprise level commerce platforms and solutions. Prior experience with digital commerce as well as business acumen, are essential for success. Your financial and retail environment experience coupled with expertise around API’s, services, and cloud-based technologies, will help craft innovative solutions to meet our business goals. From inception to completion, you will develop tools and technology, learning quickly from our spirit of experimentation. Overall, you will have a direct impact on improving the performance of our business and ensuring customers can buy and sell the products and services they want in a way that’s right for them.
As part of the Technology organization, you will have the opportunity to implement platforms supporting CarMax’s digital transformation and create best in class developer experiences in bringing business and platform capabilities to market.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Experience with API design and development required.
• Knowledge and passion towards the App tier/Service layer methodologies required.
• 5+ years of full stack application development experience required.
• Hands on programming using C# .Net, and Azure required.
• Experience integrating cloud-based technologies and solutions required.
• Experiencing scripting Infrastructure as code in a CI/CD pipeline
• Prior experience working with container technology such as Docker, version control systems (SVN, GitHub, etc.), build management and CI/CD and monitoring tools.
• REST APIs, and JSON required.
• Knowledge of JSON and XML concepts, frameworks, and standards, required.
• UX / UI experience required, React.js, preferred.
• Experience working with Agile and DevOps methodologies, required.
• Experience implementing end point security utilizing industry stands and best practices.
• 5+ years of technology experience in a business environment preferred.
• Understanding of financial institution and payment regulations preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of relational databases, SQL and NoSQL knowledge and experience preferred.
• Knowledge of API Gateway technologies, preferred.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• A degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Microsoft .NET Core (C#) required.
• Microsoft Azure or similar cloud technologies required.\REST API design experience required.Experience working within a product organization preferred.\Knowledge of SQL Server and NoSQL database technologies required.
  Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the CarMax Home Office in Richmond, VA and have a Hybrid work arrangement

WHAT YOU WILL DO – ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and Develop API’s, services and user facing applications using a variety of technologies. Technologies include .NET Core (C#), cloud-based PaaS / IaaS/ CaaS, open source and third-party solutions tools.
• Develop cloud solutions using services, functions, and other key cloud platform components.
• Implement continuous integration and DevOps practices, including automated testing.
• Develop robust monitoring and alerting.
• Leverage a variety of technologies to provide solutions to business needs.
• Gain and retain thorough knowledge and functional expertise of the supported technology ecosystem, its key touchpoints, and the deployment implications of shifting industry best practices.
• Cultivate a comprehensive knowledge of the retail, wholesale, marketplace, and automotive sectors, specifically focusing on the technological innovations driving customer experience improvements.
• Partner closely with Architects and Lead Engineers to drive the digital commerce ecosystem forward.
• Create technical and support artifacts for applications and integrations.
