We do so by developing foundational models, business datasets, and decision-making applications that support a wide range of teams across Lyft. These critical platforms and tools power our pricing logic, operational alignment, and regional strategies, enabling us to compete effectively in the Rideshare landscape. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Foundational Models team, you will collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Operations to build and deploy tools that accelerate iteration and drive business efficiency. This role requires infusing AI capabilities into our existing workflows and demonstrating agility in adopting emerging AI models. Responsibilities: Partner with scientists, analysts, and business users to build and productionize foundational models and tools for running our Marketplace Help define the roadmap and architecture based on technology and business needs Help lead large projects from idea to positive execution Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge Design, build and improve a set of team owned components Participate in on-call rotations to maintain high availability and reliability of workflows and data pipelines Collaborate with internal and external partners to remove blockers, provide support, and achieve results Share your knowledge by giving brown bags, tech talks, and promoting appropriate tech and engineering best practices Experience: 5+ years of software engineering industry experience Proficiency in Python and experience with object-oriented programming Experience in distributed systems Experience working with relational or NoSQL databases Demonstrated ability to write scalable and clear design documentation Excellent communication skills and fluency in English Prior experience working closely with Data Scientists, Analysts, and Business decision-makers Preferred Qualifications: Experience deploying or maintaining ML models in production (MLOps) Familiarity with data processing and orchestration frameworks (e.g., Spark, Airflow) Exposure to modern AI/ML frameworks or integration patterns Benefits: Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options with additional programs available when enrolled Mental health benefits Family building benefits Child care and pet benefits 401(k) plan to help save for your future In addition to 12 observed holidays, salaried team members have discretionary paid time off, hourly team members have 15 days paid time off 18 weeks of paid parental leave. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
