Description

About the role

Engineers in the Insights team play a key role in shaping Bolt’s data ecosystem. We own the infrastructure that reliably delivers quality data wherever it’s needed. Data specialists use the tools we build to model and transform raw data into reusable, analysis-ready datasets.

We work across the stack - developer tools and frameworks with Python; managing infrastructure with AWS, Terraform, Databricks, and Kubernetes; automations with GitHub Actions and Airflow. We own some data pipelines, but they're not our primary focus.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Own, provision, and improve the cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes, Databricks, Airflow) that runs 800+ daily workflows and supports thousands of data models and metrics.
  • Build and maintain the internal Python tools and CI/CD pipelines that hide infrastructure complexity, so data teams can validate, test, and release their dbt models and data products more easily.
  • Build and maintain the observability layers, alerting systems, and deployment pipelines that track the platform's health, uptime, and compute costs.
  • Ensure customer success by defining, designing, and delivering intuitive solutions. Our engineers don’t sit and wait for tasks - they shape the platform’s direction.
  • Raise our product and technical quality bar by promoting software engineering best practices.

About you:

  • You have at least 5 years of software engineering experience, including hands-on work with data-intensive systems and infrastructure-as-code in cloud environments.
  • Proficient in Python or another mainstream OOP language. We care about adaptability and strong engineering fundamentals.
  • You understand modern CI/CD practices and value observability, testing, and automation as core engineering principles.
  • You have excellent communication skills, are fluent in spoken and written English, and you’re comfortable collaborating with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • You’re driven by customer success and have a track record of leading and delivering complex, cross-team projects.
  • You’re familiar with modern data stack and platforms (Databricks, Delta Lake / Iceberg, or equivalents).
