Description

About this job

Make an Impact by:

Our engineering domains at DCS build and operate the platform that powers EV charging for some of the world's largest automotive and mobility brands. As a Senior Software Engineer you sit at the centre of how a team turns defined problems into reliable, production-grade software, and you are one of the people the platform runs on day to day.

  • You will frame and own the design and implementation of features and components within your team from understanding the business need through delivery and post-release.
  • Owning the system design of the components and systems your team is responsible for.
  • Meet the team's engineering standards consistently and reinforce them through your own work and your reviews. Your code is production-ready
  • You use AI tools as a genuine part of your daily workflow. Claude Code is our primary tool
  • You take part in refinement proactively rather than waiting for fully specified tickets.
  • You apply distributed systems fundamentals soundly within the systems your team builds, and you own those systems in production.

Your Profile

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with clear evidence of owning features and components end to end within a team
  • Solid foundation in the JVM (Java and Kotlin)
  • Frontend experience (React, TypeScript, Node.js) is a strong plus. We work full-stack, and we expect engineers to pick up frontend work quickly where the role calls for it.
  • Production experience with event-driven systems; hands-on experience with Kafka is a strong plus
  • Working command of distributed systems fundamentals: idempotency, at-least-once vs exactly-once tradeoffs, schema evolution, partitioning
  • Comfortable applying common patterns (event-driven, API gateways) and a developing sense of when not to
  • Sound database judgment with relational (PostgreSQL) and non-relational stores, including data modelling and query performance
  • A track record of delivering features and components to production reliably, with appropriate unit, ntegration, and end-to-end testing
  • Able to manage your own delivery: estimating work, sequencing it, raising delivery risks early, and resolving cross-team technical dependencies
  • Comfortable owning system design at team scope: producing designs during refinement using the C4 model, keeping them current, and aligning them with a domain target architecture
  • Familiar with how engineering delivery is measured (e.g. DORA metrics, stability, SSDLC compliance, velocity and predictability) and able to keep your own work healthy against it
  • Effective use of AI coding tools in your daily workflow. We use Claude Code; experience with similar tools (OpenAI Codex, opencode, Cursor and others) is fully transferable
  • Familiarity with cloud service providers, ideally Azure
  • Comfortable with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
